The Upper Hand House
Charlie’s Old Flat
At the start of the sitcom we see Charlie and Jo move out of their flat in Balham, London to move in with Caroline. Later in series one Charlie and Caroline return to his old flat when looking for Jo and Tom.
Although in the sitcom the location is described as being in Balham, London. It was actually filmed on a street in Nottingham.
54 Beauvale Road, Nottingham was the home of Charlie and Jo who had the upstairs flat. (Left door).
Next door at number 52 (right door) was Mrs Riley played by Peggy Phango as shown below.
The Windsor Castle Pub
While visiting ‘Balham’ aka Nottingham, Charlie took Caroline to his old local pub, The Windsor Castle.
62 Beauvale Road is no longer a pub but flats. However you can still see the markings left by the old pub signs on the walls. It is just a few doors down from Charlie and Jo’s old flat.
Caroline & Charlie’s Wedding
The old derelict church at the front of Colwick Hall, Colwick Park, Nottingham was used as the filming location for Caroline and Charlies wedding.
