Keeping Up Appearances Series 1 & 2 Filming Locations

In this post, we take a look at some of the one-off filming locations used throughout Series 1 and 2 of Keeping up Appearances. If you are looking for the regular iconic locations such as the homes of Hyacinth and Richard, Oslow and Daisy, or the Church and Church Hall, check out this post.

Series 1 Episode 3 – Stately Home

Hyacinth just can’t decide between visiting daddy or a trip out in the country. Changing her mind, she gets Richard to turn around on three separate occasions at this petrol station in Princethorpe. Princethorpe Service Station, Princethorpe, Rugby CV23 9PT

Hyacinth decides to visit her favourite stately home, Carldon Hall. The filming location for Carldon Hall was, Broughton Castle, Banbury, Oxfordshire, OX15 5EB.

Series 1 Episode 4 The Charity Shop

In episode 4 Hyacinth does a shift (all be it very short) in the charity shop. While looking out of the window she clocks Rose heading for the shop.

This location took quite a bit of tracking down as the road layout has changed over the last 25+ years, but here it is. [125 Regent St, Leamington Spa CV32 4NN]

Series 1 Episode 6 The Christening

Hyacinth, Richard, and family attend a family christening. This was filmed at St Marys in Northampton. [Towcester Rd, Far Cotton, Northampton NN4 8EZ]

Series 2 Episode 2 Driving Mrs Fortescue

During Driving Driving Mrs Fortescue, having picked up Daisy and Rose, they stop for a stiffener at a local pub. This was filmed at the Rugby Tavern as shown below. [Rugby Tavern, 43 Rugby Rd, Cubbington, Leamington Spa CV32 7HZ]

Series 2 Episode 4: Hyacinth Tees Off

Richard is down for a spot of golf with the Major. However the major has other ideas. This episode was largely filmed on location at Chesford Grange Hotel, Kenilworth CV8 2LD.

Series 2 Episode 5 – Problem With Relatives

Whilst Daisy is outside with Daddy, Onslow is working hard to earn a living in the Bookmakers. [17 Willes Rd, Leamington Spa, CV32 4PR]

Having heard Daddy is due to get Married, Hyacinth and Richard head straight to stop him at the Registry Office. [24 Guildhall Rd, Northampton NN1 1DP]

While walking home with Daddy, Elizabeth and Emmott stop to offer them a lift. Whilst Onslow loads the car with the wheelchair, he propr Daddy over a nearby wall. The was filmed on Brookland Road in Northampton. [34 Brookland Rd, Northampton NN1 4SL]

Series 2 Episode 8 – Toy Shop

Daddy is on the rampage in the children’s section of a department store. This was filmed the former Debenhams Store on Drapery, Northampton NN1 2EZ.

In the same episode, we see Onslow drops Emmott and Elizabeth off in town. This was filmed outside what is currently Fame Fashion on Gold Street, Northampton. [43 Gold St, Northampton NN1 1RA]

Series 2 Episode 10 – A Picnic For Daddy

In this episode thinking the Butterfields garage is owned by the family of Rose’s gentleman friend, Hyacinth ensures Richard stops there to get petrol for their lovely blue Rover. Obviously Hyacinth has her wires crossed once again

This was filmed at Stratford Road, Hockley Heath. However, the garage has since ceased trading and the land has now been redeveloped. This location was identified by Keeping Up Appearances QOTD.

  1. I know I saw the car in Hockley heath, right a way once i clocked the reg, remember it to this day, I still pass this garage on the odd occasion. Great effort putting all this together

  2. Another location I’ve identified from S2 E6; Violet and Bruce’s house, The Paddocks, is 42 Newbold Terrace East in Leamington Spa.
